Introduction

Pragmatists are sound and rational people. They develop solid frameworks to help them with their decision-making, minimizing their chances of making imprecise errors due to negligence. Hence, they systematically build up their logic, ensuring that solid reasoning is present, every step of the way. That is how Pragmatists make bulletproof decisions for themselves.

Principles are what allow you to
live a life consistent with those values.

Ray Dalio

Pragmatists are not interested in theories of something possibly working; it either works or it doesn't. They live in a realm of results and consequences, always letting logic guide their judgment. Pragmatists can never understand those who wish to live in an idealistic utopia. It is absurd. In fact, they believe that those who do, are just in denial of what's realistically in front of their eyes.

Inherent Nature Of The Pragmatist

In search of the truth, Pragmatists break everything complex down to its smallest components. Through this meticulous dissection, they derive basic principles upon which they construct their frameworks, ensuring a strong foundation. If Pragmatists find even one flaw in any of the building blocks, they would rather discard the entire framework, than hold on to something inaccurate.

Pragmatists do not fall prey to societal biases. Instead, they think independently and meticulously to reach a deep understanding of issues. Understanding a problem down to its details is a crucial step in coming up with a good solution. Thus, they scrutinize their own logic thoroughly, spotting for minute logical inconsistencies so that they can ensure that their answers are consistently accurate.

If you come across someone who has an eye for catching logical inconsistencies, they're probably a Pragmatist. Due to their dislike for contradictions, Pragmatists always act in congruence with their ideals. It's easy for them because they follow a specific set of frameworks, which helps them make logically consistent and principled decisions, every single time.

Be a free thinker and do not accept everything you hear as truth. Be critical and evaluate what you believe in.

As the Pragmatist's likes are shaped by their instincts, so are their aversions. Pragmatists cannot comprehend irrational people who are unreceptive to reasoning. In the minds of Pragmatists, logic is the only method to make sound decisions. Those who argue without reason, or worse, at the whims of their emotions are just impulsive and nonsensical. For Pragmatists, it is self-evident that those who do not think properly will only have one inevitable outcome—failure.

In addition, Pragmatists are staunch defenders of the liberty to make one's own decisions. They fiercely defend their free will against anyone who attempts to coerce them into conformity. If their independence is ever challenged, Pragmatists may perceive this as a personal threat, causing them to be on high alert. Nonetheless, although it is natural for Pragmatists to dislike such people, they should learn to be more understanding of others.

Now, with all that said, do note that these traits don’t make you better or worse than others. While some may feel disappointed with their given personality type, it is important to recognize that each type is unique in its own way. Only by understanding who we are, can we leverage our hidden talents—allowing us to unlock our fullest potential.

There's more than one way to get to
the goal that you want to achieve,
but once you compromise your
principles, then you're lost.
You're really lost.

Anthony Fauci

When it comes to Pragmatists, they seek to uncover the best practices for themselves throughout their lives, adopting them as personal truths. These truths are subsequently incorporated into their framework that inform their decision-making processes. The goal for them is to create strong, dependable frameworks that endure over time. These frameworks will not only influence their decisions but also shape them up to be resilient and objective individuals.

While it may seem that the motivations behind the behavior of Pragmatists are complex, a closer look reveals that they are not as complicated as they seem to be.
