THE OFFICIAL NXT DEFINITIONS

FI Authenticity

FI Authenticity belongs to one of the eight Type Instincts in the NXT personality framework. If you are new or unfamiliar with the topic, do refer to the Introduction of Type Instinct for more information.

Overview

Emotional Authenticity, or Authenticity for short, is the Type Instinct for archetypes who have Introverted Feeling (FI) as their Dominant Cognitive Function.

Introverted Feeling is an Introverted Implicit Judging Cognitive Function, used to cultivate personal significance by recognizing what personally feels most right through one's own emotional justifications.

This Cognitive Function is relatively subjective and connotative as it prioritizes the most convincing sentiments based on one's personal judgments in order to achieve emotional authenticity.

As such, Introverted Feelers tend to focus on evolving themselves based on personal values, most noticeably by considering their own priorities and beliefs, all of which promote emotional authenticity.

Brief technical description: Introverted Feeling seeks for what personally feels most right by prioritizing emotional authenticity.

To provide greater clarity and understanding of the descriptions above, below are the key definitions for the specific terms used.

Key Definitions

Definition of Authenticity:
The quality of being genuine, particularly when it comes to a person's values, beliefs, and actions.

Note: Although everyone may want to be authentic at some point in their lifetimes, Authenticity for a NXT Introverted Feeler is specifically tied to their instinct to always be their genuine selves.

Definition of Introverted:
Referring to a psychological orientation that is centered around the subjective viewpoint of one's inner world.

Note: Introverted is an original term by Carl Jung. Introverted in this context is not to be confused with the typical understanding of an introvert, such as being quiet, reserved, or someone who shies away from the spotlight.

Definition of Feeling:
Processing emotional justifications by focusing primarily on the appropriateness and rightness of actions or beliefs.

Note: Feeling includes, but is not limited to: making things feel right, tracking emotional changes, and gauging the worth of things.

Definition of Evolving:
Prioritizing the needs of oneself by focusing primarily on personal development.

Note: Evolving includes, but is not limited to: checking for personal opinions, upholding principles or beliefs, and striving to develop one's own identity.

Definition of Subjective:
Based on the personal interpretation of matters.

Note: A personal interpretation is not equivalent to an inaccurate or worse interpretation, but merely one that is more attached to the individual.

Definition of Value:
The instinctive worth that determines the importance of a belief.

Note: Values are typically associated with morality because it involves shaping one's beliefs and moral principles. However, something valued may also be something one prefers, which does not always involve morality.

Definition of Emotional:
According to the importance and nuances of feelings.

Note: Emotional in this context does not mean being sensitive or overreactive, but merely doing something in accordance with feelings.

Definition of Justification:
An implicit explanation that provides a convincing argument to validate the importance of a viewpoint, behavior, or event.

Note: Feelers may not commonly use the term "justifications". They may say phrases such as "my reasons are..." or "it makes sense to..." that sound logical, but are often emotional justifications instead.

Derivative Traits

As mentioned above, Introverted Feelers are individuals who focus on making subjective decisions based on values by evaluating the world internally with personal opinions determined by emotional justifications. As such, various characteristics can be expanded upon this core trait to understand it better.

To illustrate an experiential depiction of an individual who seeks Emotional Authenticity, here are some possible derivative traits that are commonly reported from individuals of this Type Instinct.

  1. Decides by considering the justifications and concerns attained from one's personal instinctive values.
  2. Thrives in personal development whereby genuine self-actualization is valuable and significant.
  3. Focuses on one's own emotional authenticity while disregarding what the group deems logically best.
  4. Forms meaningful and resolute explanations to ensure one's personal beliefs are truly authentic.
  5. Achieves success by fulfilling deeply valued beliefs, resulting in an alignment of one's values and actions.
Note: As these are some possible derivative traits, a person of this Type Instinct will either display some or most of the attributes above, with differing frequency and intensity.

Thematic Details

Within the fictional world of Mochiverse, the Type Instinct of an archetype is represented by the ninja's clan. In particular, individuals who seek for Authenticity are represented by the Otter Clan.

Crests of the Snowdrift Otter Clan (left) and Mystical Otter Clan (right). The Snowdrift Otter Clan consists of Extraverted Sensors (top) and Introverted Sensors (bottom), while the Mystical Otter Clan consists of Extraverted Intuitives (top) and Introverted Intuitives (bottom).

The reason for this animal choice is because Otters symbolize individuality, sincerity, and passion, qualities that reflect in individuals with Introverted Feeling. Hence, Otter Ninjas find no trouble in knowing what they resonate with, granting them the ability to truly know what is important to them.

To be specific, the Otter Clan is made up of two subclans, namely the Snowdrift and Mystical Otter Clan. Those who belong to the Snowdrift Otter Clan have a Sensing Function as their Supportive Function. On the other hand, those who belong to the Mystical Otter Clan have an Intuition Function as their Supportive Function.

Due to the different Supporting Functions, both subclans vary slightly in terms of their Type Outlooks. Ninjas hailing from the Snowdrift Otter Clan are down-to-earth evolvers who strive to unconver tangible values in their life. Likewise, ninjas hailing from the Mystical Otter Clan are idealistic evolvers who strive to uncover abstract values in their life.
