RA Reserved

RA Reserved belongs to one of the four Type Styles in the NXT personality framework. If you are new or unfamiliar with the topic, do refer to the Introduction of Type Style for more information.



Overview

Reserved Type Style is the behavioral outcome of the Reflecting and Analyzing Type Drives, operating together to prioritize making subjective decisions by evaluating internally with personal opinions, while balancing both objective and subjective observations by examining for both unfamiliar and familiar knowledge.

To put it briefly, those who are Reserved have a higher tendency of evolving themselves based on both new and known information.

These individuals frequently utilize their Evolving Function, as both Reflecting and Analyzing Type Drives require this function. As such, the behavior of the Evolver Personality Class becomes relatively more prominent among those of this Type Style.

To provide greater clarity and understanding of the descriptions above, below are the key definitions for the specific terms used.



Key Definitions

Definition of Reserved:
Behaving in a private and independent manner, preferring to keep thoughts or feelings to oneself.

Note: People with the Reserved Type Style may not have an Evolving Function as their top two functions, but they will still display behaviors of an Evolver that are relatively more prominent compared to those of a similar archetype.

Definition of Reflecting:
To act in a way that prioritizes oneself through an organized approach.

Note: Reflecting includes, but is not limited to: pondering personal choices, sorting internal thoughts, and organizing one's own life.

Definition of Analyzing:
To act in a way that prioritizes oneself through an improvisational approach.

Note: Analyzing includes, but is not limited to: researching diverse interests, pursuing new preferences, and trying unique approaches.

Definition of Evolving:
Prioritizing the needs of oneself by focusing primarily on personal development.

Note: Evolving includes, but is not limited to: checking for personal opinions, upholding principles or beliefs, and striving to develop one's own identity.

Definition of Objective:
Based on the non-personal interpretation of matters.

Note: An impersonal interpretation is not equivalent to an accurate or better interpretation, but merely one that is more detached from the individual.

Definition of Subjective:
Based on the personal interpretation of matters.

Note: A personal interpretation is not equivalent to an inaccurate or worse interpretation, but merely one that is more attached to the individual.

Definition of Unfamiliar:
Outside of an individual's usual experiences or awareness.

Note: Unfamiliar relates to the desire for variety as it introduces something that is new, creating a sense of curiosity.

Definition of Familiar:
Within an individual's usual experiences or awareness.

Note: Familiar relates to the desire for certainty as it repeats something that is known, creating a sense of security.


Derivative Traits

As mentioned above, those who are Reserved have a higher tendency of evolving themselves based on both new and known information. As such, various characteristics can be expanded upon this description to understand it better.

To illustrate an experiential depiction of an individual who is Reserved, here are some possible derivative traits that are commonly reported from individuals of this Type Style.

  1. Tends to be deep in thought, preferring to spend more time engaging in personal pursuits.
  2. Often focuses on the thoughts or feelings of self in order to gain a clear understanding of one's own opinions.
  3. Knows more about self than others, seemingly dissociated from others.
  4. Prefers to prioritize their own judgment as they are uncomfortable with others deciding for them.
  5. May feel lost and insecure about their own status in the community as a result of being too self-focused.
Note: As these are some possible derivative traits, a person of this Type Style will either display some or most of the attributes above, with differing frequency and intensity.
