THE OFFICIAL NXT DEFINITIONS

NE Possibilities

NE Possibilities belongs to one of the eight Type Instincts in the NXT personality framework. If you are new or unfamiliar with the topic, do refer to the Introduction of Type Instinct for more information.

Overview

Abstract Possibilities, or Possibilities for short, is the Type Instinct for archetypes who have Extraverted Intuition (NE) as their Dominant Cognitive Function.

Extraverted Intuition is an Extraverted Implicit Perceiving Cognitive Function, used to discover a variety of unknown things in the world by uncovering the most extensive and meaningful ideas through varied and new abstract concepts.

This Cognitive Function is relatively objective and connotative as it prioritizes the most intriguing theories identified through a diverse range of perceptions in order to acquire abstract possibilities.

As such, Extraverted Intuitives tend to focus on exploring new concepts, most noticeably by finding different ideas and patterns in the world, all of which promote abstract possibilities.

Brief technical description: Extraverted Intuition seeks for the most extensive and meaningful ideas by prioritizing abstract possibilities.

To provide greater clarity and understanding of the descriptions above, below are the key definitions for the specific terms used.

Key Definitions

Definition of Possibilities:
The prospect of something happening, existing, or generally being possible.

Note: Although everyone may come up with unique possibilities at some point in their lifetimes, Possibilities for a NXT Extraverted Intuitive is specifically tied to their instinct to seek for what could be.

Definition of Extraverted:
Referring to a psychological orientation that is centered around the objective viewpoint of one's outer world.

Note: Extraverted is a term originally coined by Carl Jung. Extraverted in this context is not to be confused with the typical understanding of an extravert, such as being outgoing, loud, or someone who occupies the spotlight.

Definition of Intuition:
Processing abstract concepts by focusing primarily on patterns and ideas that are conceptual.

Note: Intuition includes, but is not limited to: noticing abstract connections, providing conceptual ideas, and tracking underlying patterns.

Definition of Exploring:
Prioritizing what is new by focusing primarily on discovering a broader range of information.

Note: Exploring includes, but is not limited to: trying different approaches, acquiring new knowledge, and seizing interesting opportunities.

Definition of Objective:
Based on the non-personal interpretation of matters.

Note: An impersonal interpretation is not equivalent to an accurate or better interpretation, but merely one that is more detached from the individual.

Definition of Abstract:
Imagined and non-tangible, existing only conceptually.

Note: Apart from ideas and theories that are evidently abstract, analogies and metaphors are also considered to be abstract, as they refer to intangible concepts that are formed through one's imagination.

Definition of Unfamiliar:
Outside of an individual's usual experiences or awareness.

Note: Unfamiliar relates to the desire for variety as it introduces something that is new, creating a sense of curiosity.

Definition of Connotative:
Describing the implied meaning or representation suggested by something rather than its literal description or representation.

Note: For example, the word "cold" would suggest someone being emotionless, instead of the literal meaning of something absent of heat.

Definition of Concept:
Things that are generated in the mind, usually without tangible evidence or existence in real life.

Note: People tend to associate the term "concept" with art and design. However, concept in this context merely means an idea or theory.

Derivative Traits

As mentioned above, Extraverted Intuitives are individuals who focus on making objective observations that are abstract by examining the world externally for unfamiliar knowledge consisting of connotative concepts. As such, various characteristics can be expanded upon this core trait to understand it better.

To illustrate an experiential depiction of an individual who seeks Abstract Possibilities, here are some possible derivative traits that are commonly reported from individuals of this Type Instinct.

  1. Observes by conceptualizing ideas, patterns, and associations from various matters.
  2. Thrives in dynamic situations that require generating diverse and out-of-the-box ideas.
  3. Seeks for abstract possibilities while disregarding conventional established practices.
  4. Provides multiple interlinking perspectives in an open-ended and sporadic manner.

Thematic Details

Within the fictional world of Mochiverse, the Type Instinct of an archetype is represented by the ninja's clan. In particular, individuals who seek for Possibilities are represented by the Fox Clan.

Crests of the Scorching Fox Clan (left) and Infinite Fox Clan (right). The Scorching Fox Clan consists of Extraverted Thinkers (top) and Introverted Thinkers (bottom), while the Infinite Fox Clan consists of Extraverted Feelers (top) and Introverted Feelers (bottom).

The reason for this animal choice is because Foxes symbolize creativity, curiosity and cleverness, qualities that reflect in individuals with Extraverted Intuition. Hence, Fox Ninjas find no trouble in coming up with original ideas, granting them the ability to devise novel solutions to old problems.

To be specific, the Fox Clan is made up of two subclans, namely the Scorching and Infinite Fox Clan. Those who belong to the Scorching Fox Clan have a Thinking Function as their Supportive Function. On the other hand, those who belong to the Infinite Fox Clan have a Feeling Function as their Supportive Function.

Due to the different Supporting Functions, both subclans vary slightly in terms of their Type Tactics. Ninjas hailing from the Scorching Fox Clan are inventive explorers who seek to unearth groundbreaking discoveries. Likewise, ninjas hailing from the Infinite Fox Clan are perceptive explorers who yearn to unravel their wildest imaginations.
