THE OFFICIAL NXT DEFINITIONS

Intuitive

Intuitive belongs to one of the two Type Outlooks in the NXT personality framework. If you are new or unfamiliar with the topic, do refer to the Introduction of Type Outlook for more information.

Overview

Intuition Functions are Implicit Perceiving Cognitive Functions, used to uncover the most meaningful ideas by examining abstract concepts.

These Cognitive Functions are implicit as they involve forming relatively connotative observations that prioritize the most interesting perceptions derived from conceptual theories.

As such, Intuitives tend to focus on what is abstract, most noticeably on ideas and connections that are conceived in the mind, all of which are forms of patterns and concepts.

Brief technical description: Intuitives want to uncover the most meaningful ideas by prioritizing abstract concepts.

Intuitives will have an Intuition Function as either their Dominant Function or Supportive Function. Intuition Functions consist of Extraverted Intuition (NE) and Introverted Intuition (NI).

To provide greater clarity and understanding of the descriptions above, below are the key definitions for the specific terms used.

Key Definitions

Definition of Intuitive:
A person who prioritizes Intuition by making observations that are abstract.

Note: Everyone is capable of knowing some things instinctively, but Intuition for a NXT Intuitive is specifically tied to processing abstract concepts.

Definition of Intuition:
Processing abstract concepts by focusing primarily on patterns and ideas that are conceptual.

Note: Intuition includes, but is not limited to: noticing abstract connections, providing conceptual ideas, and tracking underlying patterns.

Definition of Implicit:
Implied or understood without being directly stated.

Note: Daily interactions may comprise of both explicit and implicit information. However, those with Intuition or Feeling Functions as their top two functions will focus primarily on implicit information.

Definition of Abstract:
Imagined and non-tangible, existing only conceptually.

Note: Apart from ideas and theories that are evidently abstract, analogies and metaphors are also considered to be abstract, as they refer to intangible concepts that are formed through one's imagination.

Definition of Connotative:
Describing the implied meaning or representation suggested by something rather than its literal description or representation.

Note: For example, the word "cold" would suggest someone being emotionless, instead of the literal meaning of something absent of heat.

Definition of Concept:
Things that are generated in the mind, usually without tangible evidence or existence in real life.

Note: People tend to associate the term "concept" with art and design. However, concept in this context merely means an idea or theory.

Derivative Traits

As mentioned above, Intuitives focus on making observations that are abstract by examining the world for knowledge consisting of connotative concepts. As such, various characteristics can be expanded upon this core trait to understand it better.

To illustrate an experiential depiction of an Intuitive, here are some possible derivative traits that are commonly reported from individuals of this Type Outlook.

  1. Examines the abstract patterns in order to determine the nature of an object or occurrence.
  2. Prioritizes the conceptual meaning and symbols over the physical attributes of things and events.
  3. Assumes that if the ideas are clearly seen then the facts will eventually fall into place.
  4. Prefers to understand the ideas and context behind actions without having to carry out the actions.
  5. Often uses analogies from theoretical concepts in order to prove or explain their observations.
Note: As these are some possible derivative traits, a person of this Type Outlook will either display some or most of the attributes above, with differing frequency and intensity.

Thematic Details

Within the fictional world of Mochiverse, the Type Outlook of an archetype is represented by the primary color of the ninja, which also denotes the ninja's village. Intuitives, who belong to either the Fire or Air Village, are represented by the colour red or yellow.

Example of ninjas who are Intuitives.

Intuitives who combine with Thinking are red in color, representing the Fire Village, while Intuitives who combine with Feeling are yellow in color, representing the Air Village.
